I was thinking that if you were to get that saw out again you could whip off a finger, assuming you have one or two left available, and then pop it into the leak until the man could book you in for a permanent job ........

So far this afternoon (and I was only a day late so I'll let it go) I've isolated the bathroom light from the switch and put a tarp on the roof held down by bricks, no doubt we'll be having baths in the dark for a while.

Rainwater, droughtwater, it's all the same to me, I'm just hoping that it fills up quickly so that I can sell it on ebay to needy parts of the UK although I do need some tips on inexpensive methods of posting the stuff, I trialled an envelope this afternoon but the results were a let down when the lady at the Post Office tried to cancel the postage stamps rather too vigorously
