Transport giant First is kicking rival bus drivers out of its Hanley Bus Station canteen. The ban comes into force from Monday 1 December.
Any instances of non-First Bus employees managing to get into the canteen will now be treated as a 'security breach'.
An iternal First Bus notice seen by StokeonTrentLive states: "A decision has been made to end the term in which other operators have been allowed to use the canteen. The door that leads from outside into the canteen will be switched off, becoming a fire exit
"Signage will be placed onto the conventional door by the toilets stating that this will be for First Bus employees and authorised personnel only. If a non-First Bus employee or contractor attempts to enter the building, please advise that they should report to the travel shop. In the event that the travel shop is closed, inform the supervisor who will meet them at the side door, outside the building. All registered visitors will have a visitor lanyard clearly displayed.
"If at any time, a non-authorised individual is allowed into the building this will be dealt with as a security breach, with necessary action taken. Thank you for your understanding and your active participation in maintaining clear boundaries."
First Potteries has told StokeonTrentLive that the decision has been made to 'avoid overcrowding'.
A First Bus spokesman said: “We can confirm that we are revoking access for employees of other bus companies to the canteen at Hanley Bus Station from December 1. After consulting with other bus companies in the area, we have made this decision to avoid overcrowding in the facility."
