Driver Psychometric Tests

The other day I was reading through a thread and there was a conversation about people who had done the psychometric tests themselves and gone down that route to become a driver. I’ve done the tests myself, but a friend of mine is struggling to get past the application stage and wants to complete the tests so that he stands a better chance, can anyone point me in the direction of the companies that you can do this with please?

I think the only company that did it was DB but I think I also read recently that they aren’t doing it at the moment. (Someone clarify)

To be honest, I don't think having previously passed the psychometrics previously, either by paying to do it at DB, or after having passed as part of a previous application with another TOC, gives anyone an advantage over people who haven't taken the tests. The recruiters assess each application against the criteria they are looking for, and progress or reject them regardless of whether they have passed the tests or not. There are plenty of people who have passed the tests that have been rejected in favour of people who haven't. A test pass is just not something the recruiters are looking for. The only time that test status becomes important is when they need to see if they need to book you a test or not! In my opinion, paying for the test yourself would be a waste of money.

I would agree with the above. Maybe tell your friend to have a look at his CV/cover letter and the role and think about the application a bit more.

I agree too, it’s just some things I’ve read on here make it seem like a viable option, I get a lot more positive responses from potential employers than he does and I can only really put it down to the fact I’ve already completed the tests!

It must be the actual application. As said above the TOCs don’t look at the name and then if you’ve done the assessments or not.

If u get it done privately then u only need to worry about your online application and being accepted and then worry about the interview stage so i would recommend it, knowing that I won’t be stressing over the pshycometric test which can only be taken twice in your entire life lol

But you can’t do them privately currently so surely it all a bit moot

If u get it done privately then u only need to worry about your online application and being accepted and then worry about the interview stage so i would recommend it, knowing that I won’t be stressing over the pshycometric test which can only be taken twice in your entire life lol

With loads of companies having their own required pass standard, it’s more than possible even after completing all tests privately a company will require you to re-sit a test if not multiple tests which could still see you fail and lose a life
