Hey everyone I have a Driver Manager interview for First Great Western in Bristol next Tuesday (17th March).

I'm aware I need to research the company (current and future improvements, network, manager etc which I have already been doing over the last few months) but is there likely to be other questions which I'm not prepared for (I don't mean the tell us a bit about yourself questions etc - I mean stuff they will try and catch you out on or that I am unlikely to have prepared for).

Are they likely to ask the stuff like "give an example of where you have dealt with an emergency situation" or is that over an done with from the stage 2 assessment (Multimodal interview) I did in January?

I did have a look through the forum for a post relating to this subject and TOC but could only really find ones relating to other TOC's and dont know if they are all similar, or whether each TOC differs greatly at the Driver Manager interview stage

Any help would be appreciated.

Take it your external? Lots on the company and yes another structured interview so lots of questions

Perhaps you can find out when the next courses post April will be. Whilst in one way very happy to be where I am it still feels like I am very far away from it all
.
Some certainty would help

Anyway good luck sure you will do well

Hi, I passed it. Just waiting for a start date which they say will be sometime in the next 12 months! Hopefully it will be the lower end of 12 months.

That was for Bristol? Well done Join the waiting game! I have been told later this year but who knows at least they told you within the next 12 months

I asked in the interview if there was any idea on the start date, he couldn't tell me this, but did advise that if I pass (which I did - apparently with a high score), I will be put into a list for the next training programme but this may be a while and could be much later in the year as they are waiting for work to be completed before they can start the next training school (although I don't know if this meant network work, or simulator work).

The generic email I got from First careers confirming I had passed basically said they are still waiting for confirmation on vacancies although they cannot tell me when this will be at this time. My application will be held in a "pool" for 12 months awaiting the next training intake.

have you applied to Bristol aswell?

How did you find out you had scored well?

I'd like to think they hold you till your passes are no longer valid

I sat my first stage near enough 2 years to the day, and in still in the pool pal. I hope I am wrong but I would take the driver managers feedback regarding start dates etc with a pinch of salt as everyone seemed to of been under the impression that they would be in the next course. Congrats on passing through IT all pal, and welcome to the ever growing list that is the talent pool!

The email I got from First said as I had scored highly they would like to keep my application on file for a start date within the next 12 months.
It did also say however that after 12 months my application will be discarded if I have not been allocated a position......hope this won't be the case.
