Routes traversed, areas SWR covers, fleet, staff turnover, passenger figures, future plans, parent company(s), managing director.
This is just a brief intro to what you know about the company, they wont ask you all of this but knowing it will be good for you as when they see you know your stuff they will stop you and move on very swiftly. They may also ask you what you know about the role of a train driver make sure you know this thoroughly. Then comes the usual tell me about a time when .........
Think safety, what the role of a train driver entails, following rules and you will be fine. It will all be from your past experiences so try and dig up any relevant things you've done that you can apply to the questions.

What depot have you applied for??? Good luck with your interview tomorrow. Personal advice is to know company figures, new franchise just began 20/08/2017, see who MTR and First Group are, think of examples in your life and job you have dealt with rules, regulations and within guidelines. Remember what a train driver does, either actively by driving a train and passively by preventing risks.
Thanks gianpaoloo. It's for Waterloo. There's one question I've heard they ask which is something along the lines of... 'Example of a time you had to make a plan: - what was the outcome, hardest part of doing plan, how did you feel?' but I'm currently finding it hard to come up with an example that would correspond with this interview.
Ever organised for a few friends to get together for a football match? Taken the family away on a trip/holiday? Im sure you didnt just hop in the car/cab/plane one random day and just leave. Organised a party/stag/hen night? These are just random things at the top of my head, im sure you've done something that can mould to the question. The most important thing is think about the question being asked and tailor it what you think will be relevant to the job. Safety, importance of not making a mistake, communication, what you did alone, what you did with a team, difficulties you faced, what you learnt from it, what uou would do differently, the end result and how you felt during and after the process.

Waterloo will be hard work but the managers are very nice and prepared people, you'll always be looked after them!!! As valentine says a plan is all about preparation, similar to a train driver when you prepare for duty: take plenty of rest the day before, prepare your bag/uniform/food, nice breakfast, shower, get to destination with plenty of time, never leave it to the last minute, read your notices, share experience with colleagues etc etc.... I am currently a guard at Strawberry Hill and definitely recommend SWR as employer!!!

Definetly, there have been numerous past failures with various TOC's with feeback merely stating "Not enough knowledge on company" or a similar comment along those lines. Driver Manager Interview (DMI) is the one and only stage out of the whole process where you actually get to shine and impress. This is where the difference between making a good train driver and making a good train driver for the specific company comes into place. You cant prove you will be a good employee of the company if you havent done your research of the company you want to work for
If i was a director of ANY company I'll expect you to know about my company that You applied and want to work for.

As others have said, it definitely does, yes. It not only shows you have undertaken some research (even if by 'research' this is a quick Google search), but shows you're serious about the role and want to work for the company.
Try attending a driving interview NOT knowing it!..... I bet you a pound to a penny to a pinch of sh*t you come away with no job. Yes you must be prepared in the correct way for lots of the other different types of questions likely to be asked as well, but this is arguably one of the first questions they'll ask.
If you'd of said " does knowing this get you past the interview" I'd of said no because as I said you need to be clued up in lots of different areas as well as this one. But it certainly HELPS because its arguably the most important questions in the interview.
Please...... I implore you....... don't ever go for a driving interview without knowing this.

Been there, done that. And I'm a driver.Not in the UK though...
That certainly must of been in times gone by with a VERY flexible TOC then lol..... I can't imagine too many tocs over here that'd give you decent marks when you reply "absolutely **** all" when asked what you know about the role lol!!
