Driver fined for crossing offence

A 49-year-old woman has been banned from driving for a year after being convicted of ignoring red lights at a Norfolk level crossing.

Lorraine Hodgkinson, from Outwell near Wisbech in Cambridgeshire, overtook another vehicle and zigzagged around a barrier at Downham Market as it closed.

She was found guilty of driving dangerously at Norwich Crown Court.

She was fined £1,000, ordered to pay £1,100 in costs and banned from driving for a year.

About time too. At last the courts are waking up to the danger.

With the amount of trips I've been doing lately on teh Lymmy Branch I've been thinking of our union's call for all crossings to be replaced by bridges or underpases.

Not a lot of room for that at Lymington.

This happened at Totton last year! Idiotic lunaric overtook two stopped cars and then dodged a barrier. I hope the cameras got him/her. I have had publushed in RAIL a photo of a car swerving around gates at Marchwood when the signaller was opening/cloisng them.
