19th & 20th February 2008: Twice to Galway 087 to Galway and back, before returning West for a second time later the same day behind 083 on the 17:50 ex Heuston. On Sunday we returned to Dublin on the 12:00 ex Galway, just as the first 22000s were starting to make their presence felt at Heuston.
12th February 2011: Galloway Galloper Railtour 37601 & 37607 Glasgow-Stranraer Harbour.
13th February 2011: Glasgow-Dublin Sail Rail Returning to Ireland after the Galloway Galloper Railtour, we bought a through ticket from Glasgow to Dublin. We took the train to Stranraer Harbour, then joined the veteran Stena Caledonia to Belfast, and finally the Enterprise to Dublin. A very enjoyable way to go, unfortunately no longer possible since the closure of Stranraer as a ferryport.
12th November 2011: Farewell to Belfast-Stranraer part 1 With the opening of a brand new ferryport at Cairnryan, Stena Line are closing Stranraer port and withdrawing the current ships on the route. The outbound trip is on-board the HSS vessel Stena Voyager.
12th November 2011: Farewell to Belfast-Stranraer part 2 A farewell trip on the Harland & Wolff built workhorse Stena Caledonia, of 1981 vintage.
17th December 2011: 215 works the RPSI Santa's An unusual choice of traction, meaning an exceptionally rear visit for the 201 class out onto the Sligo line. The morning train is seen at Tara Street and running around at Grand Canal Dock, before I joined the train for the afternoon run to Maynooth.
