Dresden Neustadt

Hi Folks,

Just got back from a fabulous week in Dresden and Prague (videos currently transferring from SD to Macbook), but I noticed at Dresden Neustadt there is a new platform slightly distant to the rest of the station on what looks like a branch, I'm presuming this is old or existing track that is being given a new lease of life at Neustadt for passengers to change, but wondered where this line will go from and to? Does anyone know? Also does anybody know if the current building works at Neustadt will result in badly needed escalators or lifts being fitted? Disabled access is currently zilch.

Do you mean the one curving round to the left?

There looks like there's a building with a platform, but it looks like a Guterbahnhof to me (Goods station).

Having followed the line round, it just joins another passenger line near Dresden Pieschen after going through a big goods yard.

For the duraion of the construction works (rebuilding od the line and the station), two temporary platforms (9 and 10) outside the station building have been built. This was done to enable diverted trains (platform 10 for some trains from Leipzig or Cottbus and platform 9 for some trains from Dresden-Klotzsche) to stop at the station.

When the rebuilding is completed, all remaining platforms will have step free access.
