Seems to be a truly horrible evening for this route with a death (presumedly) somewhere on the line near Petersfield and moments later another person hit at Hilsea.

In addition, there was some other incident at Havant too that added to the pandemonium.

I had no experience of it first hand, but it must have been tough for passengers, staff and of course, the family/friends of any unfortunate persons involved in the tragedies.

Yeah been following the events on @SW_Trains twitter.

Person hit at liss then within around less than 2hours a person hit at Hilsea.

During the liss incident there was a problem at Havant and armed police responded to a southern train and arrested someone with guns on board.

Feel sorry for commuters and feel sorry for SWTrains but have to give the person Tweeting tonight some praise done a really good job and has a good sense of humour!

I drove from Fratton to Liss to pick my brother up as his train was stuck there.

I gave 2 gents a lift to Petersfield on my way back :D

Thoughts as usual to the families, rail staff and emergency services in dealing with the persons being hit by trains this evening.

Cant imagine it would have been too nice to have been a passenger on board the Southern at Havant either.

I am sad to say that NRE is now telling us that someone has been hit by a train at Newton Abbot, although, of course, this is not on any route near Portsmouth. I cannot find any information confirming whether or not this was a fatality.

As always, my thoughts are with the families of those killed and/or injured today, the railway workers and the emergency services.

Yeah not great on SWT today, up to London for a lunch do this am, no probs for me going up from Fareham via Havant, but a mate was three hours late from Weymouth due to an incident at Brockenhurst.

Way back left Waterloo at 9, guard informed us of trouble at Hilsea stopped at Guildford, nine trains waiting ahead, fortuantly train back to Woking waiting, then Exeter train to Basingstoke, then 158 - guard thought train might be held at Fareham, fine for me but it went on ok. Hope people on Pmth line got home ok.

A friend was on the Havant train when a man sat next to her and said 'they seem to think I have a bomb' barring her with luggage and then poilce forced the guy against the wall and detained him but apparently no bomb..

The incident at Havant stemmed from a Maltese man saying to a female passenger that he was going to blow the train up in 10 minutes. He also made "throat slitting" gestures to her and she went and reported it to the crew. Armed police evacuated Havant before the train arrived and blocked the station to traffic whilst they removed the man in question...with force
