Dover Priory shuttle bus?

Sorry if this isn't in the right sub forum.
I'm travelling south in September, and hope to enjoy a trip across to Calais for the day... What i'm wondering is, is there still a shuttle bus running from Dover Priory to the Ferry terminal.

I know that there used to be one, but that was over 10 years ago.

any help will be gratefully recieved

The bus service was unfortunately discontinued around 3 years ago.

The booking clerk at Tonbridge I spoke to assured me my old person's railcard gives the usual discount, making the fare ~£18, though brfares says there is no railcard discount if I understand it correctly. You can walk to Eastern in 15-20 mins - down to the roundabout with the BP , turn right onto York Rd towards Marine Parade, left at the Banksy & straight down Townwall St into the port.

do P&O have a requirement to carry foot passengers? Could they stop doing so? DFDS don't, partly as Dunkirk ferry port is a long way from anything

Arguably it should apply at any time for Senior Railcards. Only journeys entirely within the ex-NSE area carry restrictions for such Railcards. And, as far as I can tell, Calais is definitely not in the ex-NSE area

That said, it is a little odd that the ticket nevertheless attracts a Network Railcard discount, given part of the journey (the ferry!) is way outside of NSE-land.

Are you sure? If so, when did it change from:

The normal Monday to Friday morning peak travel restrictions on the use of certain railcards (e.g. Network Railcards not before 10:00) are waived in respect of Railcard holders (and any accompanying children) travelling on these day trips.

No such requirement exists.

DFDS don't carry foot passengers on their Calais-Dover ferries, and the defunct SeaFrance stopped carrying foot passengers in 2009 (source).

Let's hope P&O don't withdraw this option. (On DFDS, a possible way around it is to ride a bicycle on board.)

I'm reminded of the Syrian and other migrants who took to crossing the Russia-Norway border by bicycle because foot traffic is prohibited (PRI article; Guardian article).

That was one way traffic for the bikes though, many of which weren't up to Norwegian standards and so were destroyed (Guardian article).

With due respect to the original poster can I ask why someone would want to go to Calais. The place is a dump. The town is about a 20 min walk from the docks that is if you can fight your way through the immigrants trying to sneak a ride on a truck.
Boulogne is a much nicer place but I don't think any ferries go there these days.

To find out what you say doesn't encompass the whole truth of Calais?

The walking route from the port to the town is not the route used by trucks to and from the port.

It was when I did it. Must have changed then. The walk from the Ferry to the town was like walking through an industrial wasteland. If it has changed I bow to your greater knowledge. Stiil doesn't alter the fact that Boulogne is a nicer place.

Three years ago..... My mate and I tried from London St Pancras. for a London to Calais (via P&O). The East Midlands Trains ticket office at St P would not sell, saying it was SouthEastern only. So we went to the Thameslink ticket office in St P. The lady there allowed me to spell out CALAIS and joy we had a ticket to Calais, via P&O Ferries add on the high speed supplement, rail card and a great day out.

Don't go into Calais though.
