DORIS is VTEC's system. Others are using Fujitsu STAR Mobile or Worldline Envoy.

She prints in PRT format (paper roll tickets) but I think you will be pleasantly surprised by what you get.

Here is one I found at work. I'm gonna be honest, I found it lying about, thought it was going to be binned and thought "might as well keep it safe" and nobody has asked for it back so...

I am presuming this is from Envoy maybe?

But at LM we are getting proper CCST tickets and not roll stock so not sure where this is from.

But here is one.



The back is exactly the same as CCST stock with the box and T+Cs on the back, except it is printed upside down when compared with the writing on the front (comparing it to the National Rail wording, so no, the printing is not upside down!)

That was issued by Virgin Trains (West Coast) and I believe that they have gone with Envoy. However, the layout of the ticket is to an RSP standard so shouldn't be much different to those that DORIS will issue. It should probably be exactly the same, but you can never be sure!

DORIS is now being used at all VTEC depots , Avantix will very soon be a bulky memory on VTEC services

Yes, though the parts of the line with the poorest mobile reception are difficult (and of course there are some 'dead spots' quite close to London, where the most intensive ticket sales take place, which will make for interesting outcomes).

How would that ticket stock work with the Gateline Barriers though?

The most recently installed barriers should have a scanner in them, earlier versions may need to be updated. The ticket needs to be presented to that scanner, and if the barriers are programmed correctly, valid tickets will open the barriers.

Ah right - I think I've seen such ones at Birmingham New Street recently.

On another barrier connected matter - is there a resource online anywhere detailing where they are considering installing barriers on the national network?

So I take it these are becoming more and more common now as at Leeds Station there were tons of signs up today advising passengers with 'paper tickets' to seek out gateline staff to let them through!

Which begs the question, why hasn't a busy station such as Leeds got their act together and installed the barcode readers in the gates by now?
