was just wondering if the feature of the VWC door markings of the chevrons, could/should be used on all vehicles to some degree for emergency aspects, i.e ease of locating in the dark.
Or even similar around escape windows

all (new) liveries have to have "contrasting" doors- primarily to assist those with impaired vision (but not completely blind) find them. Virgin happen to have gone for the striking Chevron design, but look at every single livery (other than "heritage" stock and you'll see the doors are are different colour to the bodywork.

My thought is that the chevrons are light reflective, so even with the respective liveries could they not be incorperated

I actually think most of the contrasting door liveries look rather good. It looks better IMHO than them trying to flow the livery into the door as if it weren't there which usually jars a bit for me.

Oddly that seems to be getting away with using an old livery

Putting light reflective strips on a door is abit over the top to be honest, yes it would be useful in an emergency but if things were to put on a train because it would be useful in an emergency it would just get ridiculous!

The contrasting colour doors are bad enough!

I don't think we need to go further than contrasting doors, especially when other European countries (which people always love comparing ours to) don't even have this

In France, the TGV, Corail and RER fleets seem to have contrast doors, but TER doesn't (even on new stock)

DB "red" local/reginal livery now has white doors, but the white InterCity/ICE doesn't have red doors.

NS seem to be inconsistent- some older liveries did have contrast doors, the newest don't

Iarnród Éireann appear to have contrast doors on all stock now.

RENFE seem to have it on some stock

the Italians appear to be leaving it up to individual companies
