...After receiving a safety briefing, instructions and a demonstration, you will take full control of the locomotive and initially drive along the station platform to get a feel for the controls. Then you will head out of the station and along the ex-National Coal Board line up to Laight Farm Level crossing and back. You don’t just do this once but twice! All under the watchful eye and guidance of one of our experienced drivers....

The experience includes a full tour of our loco shed and 1 year membership of the group, which itself offers complimentary travel on our open days.

Without going on a complete tangent here, having never heard of the Doon valley railway and being unable to find much information online, how long is the railway?

I can see on Google maps track is laid all the way to Mount Oliphant, and also some way south of the yard area - how much of this is usable/routinely used?

Currently 1 mile with discussions ongoing to lease an additional 1.5 miles of track which is in place but has been disused for some time.
