I am up north next week and was wondering if i can travel to York from Doncaster via Wakefield Westgate and Leeds .

Or is the only way straight through on the ECML ?

Many thanks

Yes, you can travel via Leeds. It used to be valid, then the permitted route was gobbled up by ATOC, then enough people complained to East Coast & ATOC that it was reinstated, and that's the way it still stands. If you have any issues using this route, refer to NRE's journey planner, which gives an itinerary.
