Doncaster to York

hi going to York in a couple of weeks time probably one Saturday but I want to go via Leeds and stay there a couple of hours then a couple of hours at York
Must be walked up with senior rail card
Would I be better getting all singles at about £25 or can I get a return from Doncaster to York via Leeds and break my journey at Leeds

The tickets from York to Doncaster allow break of journey. Therefore a Doncaster to York return is the most appropriate ticket. No need to waste money on singles.

Suggestion: at Leeds ticket barriers show your ticket to staff to be let through, rather than using the battier (oops... barrier!) machines. It saves time etc if the machine does swallow your ticket!

I'd just check if Leeds are at home as Whetherspoons can get very busy on match day!

The Swinton fare is the same as Sheffield to York and “any permitted “. Therefore valid via Doncaster or Leeds or Pontefract, in my opinion!

As far as I can see the Swinton<->York isn't valid via Leeds but Sheffield<->York is - so the OP should probably get that one (for ~10p more).
