Doncaster to Glasgow Routing

Hi All- I travel from Doncaster to Glasgow fairly regularly and have always gone via Edinburgh (indeed the journey planners, including the Rail Forums one, only offer this route).

I had a thought about going via Manchester for a change but have to enter a via. However, I can get there at almost the same time (due to there being Doncaster to Manchester service half an hour earlier than the Edinburgh service) and it is a lot cheaper.

Any reason why the via Manchester route is not offered as "standard" please?

I can find a few variations - a search on this site's planner (Wednesday 10am) returns (as standard) via-Manchester and via-Leeds options as well as your 'standard' Edinburgh option.
