Anyone got any tips for the best fare? One way on Sunday 31 October, no railcards, departing after 1700.

As my friends will be flying in to Robin Hood Airport, they need to avoid Advance tickets!

Thanks in advance!

My only advice (am not a fares geek) is that you can buy some "through" tickets to/from the Airport (the Bus Station in Doncaster is next to the Train Station), if that makes any difference

Here's what I found for your journey enquiry.

Doncaster - Sheffield Anytime Day Single £3.90
Sheffield - Derby Off Peak Day Single £8.70
Derby - Birmingham New Street Off Peak Day Single £12.40
Birmingham New Street - Cheltenham Spa Off Peak Day Single £18.90

Total £43.90
Saving £20.50

There are also currently some £17.50/£18.00 Advances for 4 journeys between 1650 and 1850

If the train stops at burton there is a small saving to be made with a derbyshire wayfarer, and split at burton instead of derby. (That's one of yorkies!)

That Birmingham to Cheltenham bit is always a problem!

Thanks everyone. They are due to arrive at 1400, but don't know how long it will take on the day to get to Doncaster railway station. As they can't tell whether the plane will be on time either, they will split the tickets as suggested so they have total flexibility!
