Slightly off topic, but i went south non-stop through Doncaster yesterday using platform 1. How unusual is this?

There was a points issues at marsh Gate junction, platform 1 was the only route available for services from York direction.

Was that the points issue which caused the 1957 London Kings Cross to Bradford Interchange GC service which originally arrived on Platform 3B to have to reverse southward to come back via platform 4, 20-or so minutes later?

Thanks. I was waiting for a London service at York on Sunday morning and the announcements said that the delay was due to over-running engineering north of York and points failure south of York. I know strictly speaking that Marshgate is south of York, but i had visions of it being Colton Jc. It would of been more accurate to announce it as points failure at/near Doncaster.
