I will be travelling next week and will have a connection in Doncaster around lunchtime. I was wondering if it would be feasible to leave the station and buy lunch from the Greggs inside the Frenchgate shopping centre. On the map it looks quite close, and I do walk a bit faster than average, but I'm aware that these shopping centres can be quite labyrinthine and don't always have entrances on all sides.

Can anyone who knows the area advise on whether this is feasible within my approx 20 to 30 minute connection time? Or can anyone recommend an alternative local establishment, such as a bakery that offers fairly inexpensive takeaway lunches of a similar nature?

Also am I likely to have difficulty getting station staff to let me exit the station holding a through ticket? I will be travelling on a ticket which permits break of journey but I know some stations can be funny about accepting this.

Doncaster has no barriers so unless there is a random RPI check you won't have to show your ticket to exit.

With 30 minutes to spare, you can easily pop out to Sainsburys (exit the station, cross the road at the traffic lights and the shop is next to the entrance to the shopping centre, wouldn't recommend going via the shopping centre for that one). That will probably be cheaper than Greggs if you want a light lunch (i.e. a Sandwich).

If you want to go to Greggs from Doncaster station, there's direct access from the stairs you'll go up when you exit onto the station concourse via an escalator. There's Greggs, Subway, KFC, Taco Bell, all a minute's walk from the station. Very easily done.

As others have said you'll have no problem at all. I've grabbed a Greggs with less than 10 minutes to spare before many a time.

10 minutes would be enough time to get to Greggs and back. I often pop into the shopping centre if I have time to kill and need some refreshments. it has more choice than on the station .
