Doncaster East Coast Main Line road bridge work

Network Rail gave contractors 48 hours to finish the work on the A6182 across the East Coast Main Line in Doncaster between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

But high winds have meant just one of six steel beams has so far been placed.

Doncaster Council said it hoped two more "super-critical" beams could still be installed before Tuesday morning.

The delayed work certainly doesn't seem to have had any impact on today's services (after some delayed services very early in the morning), so we can assume that further posessions will be sought at times of least disruption. But its unclear how the work can be re-scheduled to avoid any impact - it will be interesting to follow this one.
As this bridge is such a vital road artery between Donny and the Motorways, I presume that any protracted delays in completing the structural bridge work will affect the progress of the roadworks too.

they were hoping to have it open to traffic from November 2012 so it will be interesting to see if this stays on course.

The weather posed a problem and its the one thing no matter when they plan it next for they won`t have control over.

This is now set to start tonight into Sunday. The road will be closed overnight.
