Domestic tickets delivered by post

Do The Trainline and TOCs* still send the ATB Tribute/ELGAR (airline-size) tickets if you order them via the phone/internet and request postal delivery?

I bought a couple of tickets recently (one each from C2C/ScotRail, to the total tune of £1.30 ) and both were the typical 'Common Stock' type, however I've heard rumours that ATB/ELGAR tickets are still issued for domestic journeys on occasion.

Furthermore, the ticket from C2C came in a Trainline-branded sleeve, and the ticket from ScotRail in a ScotRail-branded sleeve. Is this determined by the payee, something else or a combination? (Incidentally, The Trainline/ScotRail were the respective payees according to my current account statement.)

I'm also curious as to what you get with tickets purchased through Raileasy and the 'London' Airport Expresses in the same manner (and what such tickets look like).

FGW send standard orange tickets in The Train line branded sleeves.

Airline tickets certainly still exist, I saw some just yesterday. No idea where they bought them though.

I bought tickets via the phone from East Midlands Trains a few days ago and received them in the post as the large airline style tickets which don't even work in the barriers at St Pancras.

EMT Telesales are SWT Telesales and both currently use the ATB stock - although this should change in the new year as they're getting rid of Tribute.

I don't know if it's changed but it used to be the case that if you made a combined National Rail + Eurostar purchase then you have to collect tickets from ticket machines with postal delivery not being an option. When I did Stockport-Paris the tickets I collected at Stockport were obviously standard orange tickets, while at St Pancras large airline style ticket, which the Eurostar ticket barriers at St Pancras take and take about 10 seconds before they return them.

Never had a problem when claiming from Virgin Trains with them asserting that the ticket(s) hadn't been enclosed/received, mind you, I always staple the tickets to the claim form!
