Does Scotrail run anything to Sheffield

Does anyone know if scotrail runs anything to the Sheffield area as I have heard they do but can't see any

No definitely not. Sheffield is miles away from their area of operation. They only operate within Scotland and also to and from Carlisle just across the border. There are definitely no Scotrail trains running anywhere near Sheffield at all.

The thing you may have heard is that Scotrail units have run through the Sheffield area, running from Scotland to Crewe for refurbishment or repainting or something. There are no Scotrail services anywhere near Sheffield

There were some ex-Scotrail units (class 170 I think) that were redeployed to Northern a few years ago, some of which continued to run in Scotrail livery on Northern routes for a while until repainted?

There are, however, still 170s serving Sheffield with the very old and knackered former ScotRail (pre-Satire) interior, belonging to EMR. The exteriors are EMR purple, so I doubt this is what was being referred to, but it’s worthy of a mention.

Thought as much, last one I saw was a debranded but still Spotty 'SpotRail' 158 at York in June 2019.

Is that from before Scotrail was a satire of a TOC then?

I think I have found how this happened. I think someone brought a ticket through Scotrail and that got misinterpreted as it was a Scotrail train
