Does Boxing Day affect Train schedules?

I will land in Liverpool Airport at 21:20 on 28/12/15 which is the Boxing Day.
Does Boxing Date affect train schedules in any way - let's say the last trains would depart earlier etc?

(In particular I should get to Fazakerley from the Airport).

If you did indeed mean the 26th then there is nothing running at all across most of the country-Merseyside included.

Buses should be running though, and I believe that in past years, Merseytravel have even ran a bus service on Christmas Day, very limited though. Doesn't really help your immediate situation but is something to bear in mind in future.

OP you have made 2 other threads about travel from Liverpool and Manchester Airport in the late evening to Fazakerley. Sadly there is no useful way from these places to Fazakerley at that time of night and you have been advised to travel in the morning after a hotel stay or get a taxi.

The trends were about Fazakerley to LPL Airport at early morning, not about from LPL to Fazakerley at late evening %) And the dates were different...

The 28th is a bank holiday so some TOCs will be running a revised timetable, some based on a Saturday timetable, some based on a Sunday timetable.

RTT is suggesting the last train to Kirkby from Liverpool Central will be the 23:55, with the last service from South Parkway which connects with it being the 23:24.

It's a bank holiday in lieu due to Boxing Day falling on a Saturday.

Boxing Day is the 26th and usually a Bank Holiday. However as it falls on a Saturday, Monday 28th becomes a holiday in lieu. Some trains do run on the 28th.

Very few services run on 26 December even when it is not a public holiday (as this year).

Most routes run on 28 December when it is a public holiday, but to a public holiday level of service. Details are on timetable websites, or will be very soon.

Post 5 suggests that you will be able to do this journey by train this time!

There is much engineering work on the railways before and after Christmas, but no work is scheduled on the Merseyrail electric services on 28 December.

Be aware that if trains are diverted away from their normal route (or replaced by buses) due to engineering work, timekeeping can become less reliable.

I have looked at a few services (South Wales to the South of England) for Monday 28th and, so far, only one of them is a rail replacement bus ... mind you, there's still time for this to change!

Not as usual for a Monday, but possibly as usual for a Saturday or Sunday.

No it will run to an amended timetable most likely approximating a Sunday so expect last trains to be earlier and first trains to be later and reduced frequencies during the rest of the day.

TOCs will probably be publishing revised timetables for the Christmas period in the next few weeks (and I believe some already have) so you'll need to check with the companies you're planning on using.
