Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.
Batch cooking and freezing requires a microwave, unless you're the sort of person that already knows what you're having for tonight's dinner by the time you've started breakfast.

Also having something to nuke a cold tea or coffee is a must.

I don't have a microwave in the grounds it brings in too much temptation to simply not cook and just eat ready meals of the not very healthy variety. But then again I also deliberately live in an area that nobody will deliver takeaways to. I see no real use for them anymore as other means of cooking do a better job even if they do take slightly longer.

My 92 year old gran has always had a MW since I have been born, originally a Moulinex, then a Goldstar, followed by a "Kenwood" and currently a Panasonic and couldn't live without it.
One thing to be aware of is that some Panasonic inverter microwaves can be killed by the bulb blowing, mikeselectricstuff did a video where he tried to repair one.

Such a versatile appliance, mine gets multiple daily uses from reheating drinks and cooking scrambled eggs to defrosting bread and cooking rice. Never cook ready meals but I'm not against them per se.

I'm stunned that so many people think they're "unhealthy" for unspecific and vague reasons! Perhaps it's a good thing as tin foil hats and microwaves don't mix!

Sorry to sound like I'm picking on you, but people constantly amaze me. I don't even know what brand our microwave is, let alone be able to list the makes (in order) that people two generations above me have had in my lifetime!

Always owned one and couldn't really think of how we would get by without one.
Even simple things like heading up leftovers, or having to quickly reheat a meal because something has come up whilst I was just about to start eating.
In my current place, ours was invaluable earlier in the year when lockdown happened. Our oven had broken and the letting agents were being useless at getting it replaced. Luckily our microwave is a combination oven one so whilst it is limited in size compared to the proper oven, it meant we were still able to cook pretty much as normal!

admittedly she has had 3 different microwaves in the last 7ish years due to the one that replaced the gold star that had gone brown inside being too big for her and as such I brought her a smaller one last year, though carrying back from the shops was a mistake!

My wife is a bit scared of them, so apart from where we've lived in rental properties (8 out of our 23 years together), we've not had one. Can't say I've ever felt the need for one, and the one we had in our last rented place got used about twice in six years. I'm not even sure it worked properly.

As others have said, baked potatoes and microwaved potatoes are not the same things.
Scrambled eggs - something else that shouldn't be attempted imo - ok for Americans, but they're born without taste buds.

We have one but very rarely use it. I normally find it easier to use the hob or oven. I had been given a reconditioned one when I was in a flat at Uni but didn’t use it much then. Partly as the gas cooker was simpler to use. And the gas was free & using the gas oven usually avoided having to use the electric heater in the kitchen (I had to pay for the elEctricity !)
