Documentary series about rail crashes

Starting tonight Thursday 18th July at 20.00 on BBC 1 "Why trains crash".

A series, I understand - hopefully properly balanced with calm analysis of the facts... or am I being too hopeful?

Apparently the focus of tonight's programme is on the 2nd June 2023 three train crash which happened near Bahanaga Bazar station in India's eastern Odisha state.

Yes, and ten minutes in it is coming across as properly presented.

Slight error is that some of the Paddington footage is actually of the nearby Southall crash in 1997.

Overall it seems a well balanced and researched programme.

Apparently, was produced by the same (Windfall Films Ltd) production team that also did one-off programmes 'Why Ships Sink' (2022) and 'Why Planes Vanish' (2024).

It had a "series timer record" option on the video.

But it does seem to have gone over pretty much all the major causes of accidents, and talked about a fair proportion of the serious UK ones in recent decades, all in one episode. So I'm not sure how much material they have left for any future ones.
