A West Country man known to rail enthusiasts as 'Death' has been somewhat of a celebrity for a number of years. Here is 'Death' at Bugle:

I can confirm that Mr DH was seen by myself (and by 33056 by the looks of things) in a field by the SDR at the weekend.
Didn't see any bellowing aimed at him either which was unusual, poor bloke.
I'd like to know the secret of his looking exactly the same for the last 30 years that's for sure.
That wasn't him under the OHLE either. He wouldn't do such things.

According to legend, he was a solicitor or lawyers clerk dealing in Wills and Probates - hence the name "Doctor Death".

That wasn't him under the OHLE either. He wouldn't do such things.

Well he was spotted on top of an old railway truck/van in a builder's yard when they had the 142 farewell tour for FGW, so he is known to take it too far on occasion

Didn't the politician David (now Lord) Owen have this soubriquet too? May have been given to him by Dennis Skinner, who hated him (probably still does)
