Being as honest as you can how many of you who have bought online tickets without reading the terms and conditions? I have never bought anything online but I must admit I have signed for things without reading T&C as I'm sure most of us have at some point. This is not a thread to shoot people down or anything of that nature and is meant in a friendly way but just out of curiosity

Nope, I always read (skim read at least) the terms and conditions unless it begins with "GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE"

Most of them are the same wherever you go though so I don't blame people for not reading them

I may have glanced through them once in the dim and distant past, but certainly not every time. Blimey I'd never get to the end of the booking before being timed out .

I'd imagine 99.99% of them wouldn't apply to your average everyday traveller who buys the correct ticket for their journey, doesn't take the P as regards luggage, and generally doesn't mess around.

I read the Ts&Cs, the NCoC, all railway byelaws and the Magna Carta before purchasing any ticket.

Or in reality, I'll check if it's TOC specific and if off peak I'll check time restrictions. If I'm doing something unusual or clever I might also check break of journey rules and some routeing stuff.

I tried reading them on the ticket machine a Victoria Coach Station once, I was skim reading quickly because I was in a hurray and before you even get 1/3 of the way down the stupid thing decides you have taken too long and cancelled the purchase - now tell me how the heck I'm supposed to buy a ticket when in order to do so I have to answer "yes" to the "do you agree to the T&C" question?

I gave up and stood in the (as usual) very long queue instead.

I always read insurance documents and financial agreements at least 3 times over at least 2 days, otherwise it depends on what information/ rights I think I am giving up, the size of the transaction, my feelings about the company and if whether or not I have prior experience of them. For example I a, far more likely to read them if its a 12 month phone contract with BT than I am if its a PAYG sim with GiffGaff.

I read the terms and conditions of the Off peak returns I use. I use them almost every day. Read the ts and cs one and found EVERY trip I made was in breach of them. Oops

I wonder if it might help to repeat my comment on a related matter in 2011 which included this observation from the late Lord Denning, Master of the Rolls :-

"Some clauses which I have seen would need to be printed in red ink on the face of the document with a red hand pointing to it before the notice could be held to be sufficient"
