Do you get on with your neighbours?

Mine are a weird bunch. I have a lone woman who lives next door to me and never comes out of the flat. She looks ruddy well scary as well if you have the misfortune to see her during the daylight. The old lad who lives below me has never worked a day in his life and drives about in a brand new car every two years because he walks with a limp; and next to him lives a bone-idle scrounger who has a different woman every week and makes them scream every friday and saturday night much to everybodies annoyance. I live in a block of new flats with private grounds and overlooking Haigh Hall Country estate and which costs me 610 pound a month rent. Go figure.

May I suggest buying a drumkit, that way when hes a'banging, you can be too Possibly sparing your neighbors some embarassing noises

Or maybe learn to play heavy metal on the guitar to ruin the mood for them? and head it off entirely.

I get on okay with my neighbors, however I dont really see them much as our street has a funny layout we are jammed between two streets

Haven't spoken to them in months. Comes from being the village recluse, I think I've spoken more to someone on the till in Sainsbury's than to anyone else in Graveley in the last few years.

We no longer have neighbours to the left of us. But the ones to the right are a complete and utter pain.

Purposely let their dogs out when we let ours out, keep reving mini-moto's continously most the time, swearing and cursing at their childern about 5/6 years of age.

Reasonably well I suppose. I don't see them much since they all do a disappearing act whenever it rains. Conversely, I try and get as much as possible done during precipitation due to it's cooling effect.

Mine are a mixed bunch. To the left is the railway, who are a considerate neighbour - always letting us know when they're planning on doing any all night works or anything else which may disturb us. On the right, is an elderly lady who moved here a few years ago. She is friendly and stops to speak. The same can be said for the people behind us.

Opposite, on the other side of the road are some awful people. They are nosey and love nothing better than to try and stick their noses into our (and the rest of the villages) business. We used to be on good terms with them until a few years ago when they claimed they had seen a rat coming out of our garden, and kept repeatedly calling about this. We found no evidence, despite putting down traps and keeping a watch (just in case). Despite their property being well set back on the other side of the road, they continued to complain about this rat they'd apparently seen - and were told where to go. They've not spoken since then, but still attempt to see into our property at every opportunity.

You might find this difficult to believe, but in our road of about 100 houses we have a private Yahoogroup for the residents of this road only and roughly ½ the street is a member of the group.

Not bad considering most people in the UK don't seem to even know who their neighbours are these days, if the press are to be believed.

That's pretty cool actually right down to using alt gr + 5 to get ½.

The most contact I have with the neighbours is often a volume war although it is quiet enough to hear the distant rumbling of freight if the wind is right.

In my building I don't really talk to anyone. I acknowledge the neighbours with a smile if i pass them on the stairs, but little more.

There is no regular trouble from them, one of the ground floor flats was broken into very loudly and violently, to the tune of "open this f*cking door ya grassin' wee c*nt".

Another neighbour had a domestic a few months back, nothing was heard again so one of them must have died in the argument.

There is a Hyacinth Bucket type woman, who lavishly adorns her front door with watered plants, and seemingly has nothing to worry about other than how clean the stairs are. Despite underwhelming support to hire a stair cleaning company from 13 out of 16 households, she went ahead and enlisted one anyway.

Then there's the neighbours that leave rubbish bags outside their door, rather than walk down the stairs to put it in the street bin. That really gets my wick.

You could say I'd only be happy if my house was detatched, and a comfortable distance from anyone else.

I'd be careful not to get into trouble with the environmental health. The worst thing you can do if you have noisy neighbours is to descend to their level.

Also down my road which has the same name as a particlar soap opera.

We have two people across the road who come back completely wasted out of their skulls, some more like that down the road (toward the pub) A group of people in a flat who blast out hip-hop etc :/

Where I live the houses are reasonably far apart for any of my nearest residents to be considered neighbours. That said, the one in my immediate vicinity belongs to a rather nice elderly couple who I regularly see out and about.

Don't know about the other houses, not a Peeping Tom..

There's a woman round the corner who can be a moody cow at times though, but we avoid getting involved with her.

It's actually every three years on the motability scheme. And you must be in reciept of the higher rate of DLA to qualify for it. Maybe that limp could be a false limb, like in my case.

I was offered DLA when i lost my leg but turned it down as i went back to work full time, so didn't need it. I know where your coming from though, the scheme is terribly abused by certain fraudulant claimers, and it gets up my pipe.


The neighbour to my right is lovely, and we always pass the time of day. The neighbour to my left is a nasty old bag, whom the street refers to as the witch. Village gossip and into everyones business. She moans about my land rovers being parked on MY drive mucky. She claims it devalues her property. I can safely say that i now make a point of forgetting to wash them!

Also a certain train maintenance depot is quite close too. I've managed to get a noise abatement order against them meaning they cannot hardly test their horns any longer

I get on bloody well with my nieghbours especially the ones we share a driveway with, we makes cups of tea etc for each other, take bins out, do each others gardens, we've even got the keys to each others houses in case of emergancies, but then they have lived next door all my live, its almost like having an aunti and uncle next door, as for people in the rest of the street im indiffrent to them as ive been there longer than most, one complained about my truck being parked outside once but she got told where to go, told her when shes lived her as long as me THEN she can start complaining! As long as i don't upset the neighbours either sidde of me i could'nt care less about the rest.

Never see mine here doors shutting and lift going up and down. I live in a tower block we got a community room with a snooker table (no balls) are own laundry room, loads of security cameras. Cleaner who cleans all the stairs ect allways willing to help.All for £68 a week.

My neighbour on the left are alright although i don't see them very often and the one on my right hand side are annoying play loud music, children screaming stupid boy always playing football in the garden when we told them not to play as the ball always comes onto the garden this has happens lots of time.

My right hand neighbours have small children who play football in the garden. We frequently find a ball in the back garden. It's not a problem, I just throw it back over the fence and think nothing more about it - they are fine people and it's not as though it's deliberate. The neighbours on the other side are also friendly. Just lucky, I suppose.
