Despite a lot of BR Mk1 coaches being withdrawn and scrapped there is still a surprising number still in existence. For instance:
Preserved MK 1s on our many heritage railways,
Departmental stock with Network rail, eg barrier vans.
Coaches in museums,
camping coach stock like at Dawlish,
privately owned coaches in peoples gardens
Coaches used on farmland to accommodate animals
I know that far more mark 1 coaches were built than mark 3 coaches.
Is it true that there is probably still a lot more MK 1 stock left compared to MK3?
