Under the new Hub concept there is no home depot, and the Hub for Scotland is Junction 3A of the M8, which covers signing on points at Mossend and Millerhill Yards. So looks as if no depot based at Inverness, however will be interesting to see how any workings would be rostered as they are supposed to start and end at the same home Hub.

What I should add is that drivers will also be expected to lodge away from the Hub, so this may be what will happen if engineering trains need covered in Inverness. A driver from Glasgow will take a train up to Inverness, lodge overnight then bring the train back the following day.

thanks for that wasnt sure if they were using drivers from other companies as they seem to be doing a lot these days wonder if they still have the pipe trains to georgmas when they are due to run again it seems they gave up the lairg tanks as it was to much hassle for them and now colas are running a trial on them.

Colas seem to be undercutting DB left, right and centre. It was interesting to note that the fuel tanks were originally going to be transported by road until Colas stepped in, so the deal they offered must have made financial sense.

thats why i was surprised when colas took it over as i read as well it was going back to road haulage, but as its only a trial i will be interested to see if colas can make it work as dbc qouted paths as one of the main problems with the trains and with class 56s probably more expensive to run especially when idling awaiting a path ill wonder how colas will make it work especially when db had a traincrew up there as well.

It will be interesting to see if Colas can make a success of the trial.

Where exactly at Junction 3A of the M8, or near it, is the actual office for the booking on and off?

There isn't. It is just a hypothetical location which is at the centre of any designated signing on points in the area. This means that traincrew based in that area can be expected to start and finish their turn of duty at any designated location within a certain radius from that point.

The Colas deal will end once the trial period is over and the fuel will go back to being transported by road tanker. There was a piece in one of the papers (may have been the press and journal) a few weeks ago about it.
