Do Cross Country refund the difference when changing advance tickets?

Looking on this site and it is not clear what happens is your new advance ticket is cheaper than your initial one. Does anyone know if the difference will get refunded?

Normally no, not if it's you that's decided to change the date/time of travel.

7.4 The difference between the price paid and cost of the next suitable fare for your journey is payable, plus an administration fee of £10 per person, per single ticket for each change to a journey. If you change to a train on which a cheaper fare is available, the difference will not be refunded.

I always use CC to book advances where I know I will make the journey, but the dates and times often change.

I can tell you you do NOT get the difference back when you make a change to your booking and the new ticket is cheaper than the old one.

When the new ticket is more expensive, you pay the additional amount.
