Class 156441 on 1424 Preston to Colne tody passed Lostock Hall junction with marker lights showing Red.Would someone at a station further on advise the driver or a train coming in opposite direction ?.Red lights at the rear.

Happens occasionally....including to me! About twenty years ago - running late on the evening Morecambe - Leeds service with a 156 - in my rush to change ends in platform 5 at Lancaster, I forgot to change the lights over.at the North end of the unit. Luckily, as I pulled out, a group of spotters on the end of platforms 2 & 3 noticed and jumped up and down waving and shouting to attract my attention. Equally luckily, it was a warm Summer's evening and I had my cabside window open, so I was able to hear them despite the Cummins roar. Thanks lads!

Interesting,thanks.156441 was theunit,a group of us on the bridge were trying to point out,driver tooted .We were waiting for D1015 on the final ever Pathfinder tour.Cheers.

I watched a YouTube video a while back of a 197 departing Wrexham Central (I think it was) with red marker lights. I can't find it anymore though.

I've seen it plenty of times on BBC stock footage (when they reverse the videos

Not as bad as leaving a headlamp on the rear, you can at least avoid the walk up the train in front of passengers
