DMI interview advice

Hi everyone hope all is well. I have a DMI interview coming up very soon with Southern and would like some advice on what to expect and what I should brush up on please? Any help will be appreciated

I have applied for Southern which is a brand name for Govia Thameslink Railway, do you think I should research Southern as a company or Govia Thameslink Railway? Thank you for the above

It's very easy going interview they are trying to get to know you as a person. Just do a little research on the company etc as they will ask you what you know of the company and why you want to work for GTR and why you want to be a southern driver etc but they are not testing you it's a get to know you interview as they want to see if you are the type of person to do the role.

It's pretty much a sit down chat they will also explain the perks, wages etc. So honestly don't stress about this one.

It’s just I saw a lot of people saying the have not passed the DMI so was wondering what they score you on. I mean I’m sure they will ask competency based questions and also questions about the company but what else?

I think if the DMI is "failed" it's just because they don't think you are the right sort of person to be a driver. The same as some people may not even get into the application process they look at the CV and think you are not right.

They do ask you a few "tell me a time" questions, but again I'm pretty sure these are not tests its again to gauge how you would react in X Y and Z scenario.

DMI is a non prep sort of interview other than as I say maybe a little read up on the company and what brands they operate etc.

Thank you, you have put me to ease. I have read a lot on here stating to brush up on traction, routes, types of train and all that

Each of the DMI questions are scored individually by each of the two managers and they will compare scores afterwards.

It is quite relaxed and they are not trying to catch you out.

I think it's good to know about that, it shows you've done your research. I'm pretty sure I got asked it on my dmi. I went a step further and looked into the company values and ethics and that helped me answer why I wanted to work for them.

The questions they ask are the generic ones - safety, following rules and procedure, dealing under pressure, working alone/working as part of a team and dealing with an emergency etc.
