DLR units

read in one of the rail monthlies that some of the DLR units have been deleted, can anyone shed any light on this, also what if any is the tops code for them

There is no TOPS number because the DLR network is isolated and unique.

I think they mean the original units (P86&P89 stock)
They were withdrawn in 1995 and the P89s were sold to Essen

When the B2K units were built they used 01-19 which were the original unit numbers

magazine just said delete, it was a platform 5 publication

That means they've been taken off the vehicle registration computer systems.

DLR fleet numbers go up to 155 however there are only 149 vehicles in the fleet.

IIRC 17/18/19/20/21 & 100 are the missing vehicles.

The original 17 to 21 were lomg gone; the class B2K took 92 to 99 then re-used 01 to 16 as at that time the computer system apparently could only cope with 2 digit numbers otherwise they would have been 92 to 115 inclusive.

For the B07 deliveries, that put them to over 100 units in traffic so they had to accept three digit numbers by then. They started at 101 as that was logical. ( Starting a sequence at x00 or xx00 is a steam age thing, surely?! )

Or a Computer Science thing. All computers do zero-based counting, and we have to remember to "translate" that into one-based numbers for humans to read.

The P86s are also in Essen - was a strange sight seeing them in the Central Reservation of the A40 Autobahn

Does anybody know what the running numbers are that are carried by each of the ex. DLR vehicles now in service in Essen? Were they re-numbered in order, and on which line(s) do they usually operate on?
