I was travelling on DLR recently, I have forgotten to tap, Ticket Inspector tried to check my ticket, I told him I am disabled and I don't have free pass (I am elligible for the pass, I still pay for travels because of being lazy for the application)with me and I have forgotten to tap my ticket. He did not ask my name or ID, he could have said stay, I am not sure, because I did not hear him clearly. He continued checking other passengers and next station I left the train. Do you think tfl will write me? Thank you.

How could TfL write to you if they don't know who you are? You say you didn't give your name. What sort of "ticket" did you have? When you say "tried to inspect your ticket", did they even attempt to once you had admitted you hadn't tapped in?

Was it an Oyster card? If so, and it wasn't a concessionary one, then the only way they might know who you are is if you've registered it, and their trying to check it meant that they got the "identity" of the card.

It sounds as if the inspector did you a favour this time in letting you ride for free. Next time you might not be so lucky, so it would be a good idea to apply for the pass. That should avoid any future problems.

Did you use a contactless card or an Oyster card?

If it was a contactless card then the inspector won't know if you tapped in, when everything is reconciled in the system overnight it will be identified that you hadn't touched in before starting your journey and you will be charged a maximum fare (note not a Penalty Fare). If you get three (I think it's three) maximum fares in a period of time then your card is blicked.

If you used Oyster then the inspector is able to see if you touched in at the start of your journey and of you haven't you could expect them to issue a Penalty Fare.

You should apply for a Freedom Pass f you qualify for one due to your disability.
