DJ Models Announce New Class 59 & 71 In N & OO

Hot on the tail of Bachmann's modest 2014 Range announcements, Dave Jones (formally of Dapol fame) has announced that a Class 59 & 71 are to join the line up of models under his DJM banner.

The N & OO gauge class 59 is another much asked for locomotive built to a modern standard and with the detail modellers come to expect as standard.

This model is already in development within the factory in China and paint swatches etc have also been approved.


However these is still a way to go with this model and I would ideally love to produce the O&K hoppers as well but have been unable to source the plans for these as yet.


The model will feature a coreless motor, heavy chassis, directional lighting, etched grilles all round, separate wire handrails, DCC 21 pin decoder socket with a large space for a sound speaker, sprung buffers, alternate valances and super detailed bogies and of course alternate slide details for various versions.

The OO gauge class 71 is another much asked for locomotive.

What makes this model so special is that this model will be attempted to be financed by crowd sourcing through a ‘Kickstarter’ campaign. This will allow, for the first time, a UK OO model railway locomotive to be funded up front by the customers who will receive a model for their faith in signing up to this project.

By crowd sourcing the finance for this model I am able to start work almost immediately with the laser scanning (Thanks to the NRM) and cad/cam production, whereas otherwise it would take up to 2 years rather than the possible 1.
