Dividing trains into separate portions at Fareham?

From what I recall, the Swansea-Brighton/Portsmouth & Southsea service used to divide at Fareham and ran with 2 155's. One half of the train would go to Portsmouth, the other half would go to Brighton. They continued this up until the early 90's....(I think?).

Does anyone happen to remember though exactly what year they stop dividing these services at Fareham???? And also what other services used to divide there as well????

Later than that, IIRC SWT were still dividing services at Fareham just into the current franchise until they withdrew fully from Brighton, it was a single service on Sat or Sun afternoons which came from Exeter. (I'm away from home at the moment or I'd check the old timetable.)

That is interesting, i'm assuming it was worked with a pair of SWT 159's????

Pair of 170s, more likely.

That's definitely what it was the last time I saw it, I think I might have a photo on the home PC.

I don't think it lasted very long, I can remember this service splitting at Bristol at one time. The Pompey then ran fast to Salisbury (calling Bath only), the Brighton following the more usual stopping pattern.
