Disused tube stations

I have seen some disused tube stations such as york road, down street and brompton road however im pretty sure there is more disused tube stations then the ones i have mentioned. But what do you think should be done to all of the disused tube stations in london overall?

I heard a rumour that York Road is be reopened as there is houses being bulit in this area, but its so close to Kings Cross.

Many disused stations have had bits and pieces demolished to them or have been covered up.

For Example Brompton Road & Down Street I think have been bricked up with only a gate there now, the station entrance now has a Photo both or a resturant in it but still retains its architecture.

On the Central line there is the British Museum, the platforms are gone but on the wall you can still make out the station design and LUL roundels, up top its gone though.

What i think is good, is a few years back, i got a fold out A2 size tube map, showing all the closed stations and closed sections of line, picked it up for a couple of quid at Science Museum.

Dont know if they still do it, but it showed you where all the closed stations are, what year they opened and when they closed, on the reverse it had a fact file, legend and breif reason why they closed.

If you have interest in it you its a map you might want.

It is 'The London Underground: a diagrammatic history' published by Douglas Rose - it's on around the tenth edition now I think, having first been published in the early 1980s.

Available from the LT Museum (or website) at £9.95 - a bargain!

I got one in the 1980's - it was much cheaper then, but of course, really interesting!

It was certainly cheaper - I think my first copy was £2.95 or £3.50. Still a bargain though, even at the current price.

Incidentally, the author has a website - www.dougrose.co.uk - which is well worth a visit.
