In Part Deux, I provided a link to photos of the disused Railway Workshops at Saint-Symphorien (33, Gironde) in France.

The Workshops have been closed to the public for a few years now but I had written to the Maire, Monsieur Guy DUPIOL, asking for permitted access to take photographs. Authorisation was given and I visited the Workshops on Tuesday afternoon. I have added 50 photographs to my Flickr Album:

There are different political positions on the future of the Workshops - which are a Historic Monument - but there does not appear to be any easy solution in sight. The stumbling block seems to be, as always, financial. The sad reality though is that some rare and historic pieces are just deteriorating beyond restoration.

Excellent pictures Mike. They show up well on Flickr. Only benefit that I can see of using a blog instead would be to be able to provide narrative alongside the photos rather than in the background behind them.
Best wishes

With the current government focus on profitability the only hope is a focus on history. What sort of historic monument is it?
