Disruptive passengers on NXEA...

I apologise in advance for my ignorance, but I'm slightly perplexed.

Yesterday evening I was waiting for a train at Thurston station to Newmarket. After literally 20 seconds the train came up as the dreaded "cancelled". If I recall it was due to "disruptive passengers". What criteria would a driver have for taking a train out of service, other than waiting for police/BTP at a station?

I then also notice today on National Rail Enquiries this:

"Due to a shortage of train crew because of earlier disruptive passengers, trains on the Ipswich to Felixstowe branch are being disrupted.

The following trains are cancelled and will be replaced by buses:

08:58, 09:58 & 10:58 Ipswich to Felixstowe
09:28, 10:28 & 11:28 Felixstowe to Ipswich

The train service is expected to resume with:

11:58 Ipswich to Felixstowe
12:28 Felixstowe to Ipswich"

Now, are these 2 seperate incidents (1 yesterday, 1 today) or was there quite a serious problem last night?

On this occassion I believe there were two drunks who smashed a window.

There were a couple of incidents last night. One was an Ipswich - Cambridge service where the guard was assaulted physically and verbally which resulted in the train being cancelled.

An incident at Diss where two guys walked across the track infront of a Liverpool St service and then verbally assaulted the driver. I believe these were also the two guys that threw something at a train that had something sticky on it and it hit the windscreen. Took the driver a while to clean it apparently.

Sounds like the same two guys are responsible for all the incidents as they happened all around the same area.

Both of the scum where handed over to Suffolk Constabulary. probably recieved a nice compimentary full english to sober them up.
