I am regularly travelling from A to E with the train stopping at A - B - C - D - E
(not posting exact station names in order not to doxx myself)

I have bought a scholarly season ticket from C to E, with the only permitted route via D
The only permitted route between A - E is A - B - C - D - E

In a case where I am holding advanced tickets of A - B and B - C and there is significant disruption between B - C and C - D (i.e. route blocked), which routes below would I be allowed to divert to?
A - F - D - E (39.8% longer than shortest route)
A - G - E (40.4% longer)
A - B - F - D - E (61.0% longer)
A - B - G - E (40.9% longer)

I am afraid it is going to be impossible to say without knowing the details of the tickets, stations and operators involved, the ticket acceptance arrangements made on the day, and potentially the estimated delay on the normal route (as it may invoke PRO rights). The length of the alternative routes is not relevant.

If ticket acceptance is arranged for passengers holding through tickets, then in general you would be entitled to the same arrangements subject to any route or TOC restrictions that have not been lifted. However, it might be sensible to ask for an endorsement from the ticket office/station staff/on-train staff, or contacting the TOC on social media so you have written evidence that you have been allowed to travel on the alternative route in case you are challenged.

If tickets are being accepted by alternative routes then the same as with any other kind of ticket. If they're not, you need to speak to the station staff or contact the operator whose train is cancelled on social media or by telephone.
