Vehicle crashes into major railway bridge between Brockenhurst and Sway


A major railway line has been blocked after a vehicle crashed into a bridge.

The vehicle hit the train bridge between Brockenhurst and Sway and as a result all lines are now blocked in the area.

Trains services using this route now face delays, cancellations or revisions.


South West Trains say response staff are en route to the scene and replacement buses are being sought to ease disruption.

Delays are expected until 12.30pm.

South West Trains say tickets are being accepted by Cross Country services as far away as Basingstoke.

My sympathies to those caught up in, or dealing with, this incident, BUT (pedantry alert here) why on earth is it called a 'train bridge'? I still have trouble accepting 'train station', but at least I can see some logic there. I can see no case for replacing 'railway bridge' with 'train bridge'!

it's not the best news 'paper' around, often the articles are published without checking, which often leads to duplicates, and full of spelling and grammatical errors that are only picked up and corrected when users point them out in the comments section. Normally its a rubbish article complemented by a gallery of hundreds of loosely relevant photos, not surprisingly, paced out with adverts
