Probably not, not sure there is even one there...The lack of safety equipment and sometimes emergency couplers means it rarely happens... That said, I recall a time when a Derby Etches Park 08 did go to the rescue, maybe to Spondon as there was nothing else.

Crown Point used one of its 08s to drag a failed 90/DVT back from Trowse a few years ago which caused a few ructions when it emerged how far up the main line it had ventured considering it was fitted with neither.

The Bletchley TMD 08 has been used a few times - to recover WC LHCS a few times (back in the day) , along with one of the 31;s that worked the Bedford branch .....from Tring in the latter case.

Avanti West Coast 1S52 1018 London Euston to Glasgow Central seems to have been stuck outside of Euston for about an hour now could anyone shed some light on the situation. Avanti West Coast reporting some lines blocked between Euston and Watford Junction.

I caught the 1011 to Edinburgh a few minutes beforehand, and no problems getting to BHM. Guess I was lucky. Also no probs getting back to Euston via the 1447 ex-BHM.

A lot depended on the spirit of "one railway" - we had the rear 5 set of a Freightliner detached on the down slow one day - it was annoying me , and with the afternoon peak approaching and with "competent" staff handy - we got in shoved into the headshunt and the line cleared. (once the small technical issue had been sorted) - I think another 31 used that day which was handily in Watford Yard with a willing driver.

Yes but the train could not raise its pan until the full electrical section had been patrolled by OLE staff.

Especially if you had a decent bod on in control. If they where a bit of a crank then anything was possible.

It was basically a bit of work fixed up by Watford PSB , more than keen to prevent awkward off peak "weaves" and like me mindfull of the inevitabe drastic thinning out of the peak service it we hadn't shifted it. Put it this way , job done and only then were the control advised that the obstruction was removed and a full peak service was to operate. The control were genuinly helpful apart from one notorious individual. ! (it was really a shunt within station limits) - Freightliner sent an 86 up and it was specially worked forward about 2000 hrs so a neat job. we saved a pile of delay mins and about a dozen peak cancellations......

I'd have thought grabbing a 66 from Wembley Yard or 92 from the Depot more likely than an 08. Emergency coupling, attach on country end, push back into Euston to detrain then drag out to the depot for repairs.

A Class 66 from Wembley was offered to assist but declined.

It was suggested that when the Australian consortium that bought the club, are outside the UK, things slip somewhat.

The BBC have done a couple of good articles on lower league teams having to push costs right down, and hotels for a full squad don't come cheap. It's not just foreign owners, but the general economics of lower league football.

Teams generally mandate the squad travels as one. Not least for the anti-doping or anti-corruption checks.

The Consortium that bought the club are not Australian. They have an Australian leader who spends much of his time in this country. The rest are mainly Southend or South
Essex Businessmen.
