Good morning,

I doubt you’ve any need to buy a second railcard. A current Disabled Persons Railcard is fully valid on all London Overground lines, and indeed will prevail you a discount on London Underground too.

When you get an opportunity, head to a London Underground station and ask a member of staff in the ticket gates area to help you. They will be able to access a staff menu within the ticket machine to append the discount authority onto your Oyster card. This will discount all future pay as you go journeys within the railcards validity. (When doing this make sure they select the correct Disabled Railcard discount from their list on the machine, it is separate from the generic “NR Railcard” option. If you see them pick “NR Railcard” it may be worth politely prompting them that you don’t think it’s right and that you know there’s a separate button for the Disabled Persons Railcard. This will affect the discount that is applied to your fares. )

It is then important to ensure that you carry both your Oyster and the Railcard when travelling.

I have a feeling you’ve met a member of staff who didn’t quite understand you fully, and/or gave incorrect advice.

Once the discount is loaded onto your Oyster - your relevant Pay as You Go fares can be found using the TfL Single Fares Finder (https://tfl.gov.uk/fares/find-fares/tube-and-rail-fares/single-fare-finder) by selecting Disabled Persons Railcard from the drop down.

Take care,

TP

I’m confused - have you a Disabled Person’s Freedom Pass?
