I have a DSB railcard and have done so since 2011. My current three year card expires in a few months.

Every time I have renewed I have never been asked to resubmit my proof of entitlement.

Has anyone ever been asked? Do they do this at set intervals? This is my second three year railcard expiring so I'm wondering if they'll ask for proof this time.

I am still entitled to the card but don't relish the thought of having to deal with the hospital; my current one is horribly unreliable with writing letters and sending them to the right address...

Condition 15 of the Conditions of issue and use states that "When you renew your Railcard we may ask you for current evidence of your entitlement to it - if we do, your renewal might take longer to process."
I have never been asked to resubmit my proof of entitlement.
Neither have I.
Has anyone ever been asked?
It is evident that this is a fraud prevention measure. Therefore, I would be very surprised if no-one has ever been asked.
Do they do this at set intervals?
I doubt it. I would expect investigations to target situations where fraud is suspected.
I am still entitled to the card but don't relish the thought of having to deal with the hospital
This puzzles me a little. The Disabled Persons Railcard application form lists 13 categories. Of these:
  • six ask for a copy of an award letter
  • two ask for a social services official stamp
  • two ask for a copy of an exemption certificate
  • one asks for a certificate of visual impairment or equivalent
  • one asks for evidence of deafness and
  • one asks for a copy of a relevant leasing or hire purchase agreement.
It seems to me that in most circumstances a letter from a hospital should not be needed.

I have not had mine re requested since application at the tender age of 16. I suspect as I am registered blind they havnt bothered as its unlikely to change. I asked if they wanted proof after a period of some 11 months without a railcard as I wasnt traveling much and they said sometimes in this situation they would ask but its dependant on disability.

They have never asked me for me to resubmit proof in 4 years. I don't think I'll be getting the hearing back in my right ear. I asked them if they wanted me to send an updated battery book cover for my hearing aid, and they said not to bother.
