Hi everyone.

How are you all this evening.

(Just a quick note mods if this is in the wrong section please feel free to move it)

DRS are holding an open day at their Carslile (kingsmoor) Depot this saturday 16th july 2011.

I am going my question is will anyone else be attending this .

My reasons for asking this question is i am rail staff and am going on my own, for starters i have never been to an open day before and never even taken a picture of a train or locomotive.

So my reason for asking is anyone else going was, if so would they mind meeting up and having a bit of a chat and maybe show me the ropes.

The reason i am going is because i like the class 66 so hope to see 1 of DRS class 66 there if not a 37 will do.

Thank you all for your time in reading this long post i hope you do not deem it a waste of your time.

All the best.

Simon.

I shall be there.

There aren't really any ropes to show. Hope you've got a good voice- when taking a picture of a loco, especially at static displays, you'll find the rivet counters who stand as close as they can to the loco and clog up your photo- so be prepared to shout at a few people to get them out of the way.

Enjoy the day :)

If your just taking photographs (as I usually do) the best thing to do is accept that open days are not just for photographers. People sometimes want to get up close and have a look. I happily accept that and just bide my time. In fact when I look back at open day pictures from thirty years ago, the ones that interest me most are those where people are included.

I suspect the biggest challenge on Saturday will be the weather.
