No immediate hurry - our TV is staying on analogue until next year. It is a dual signal YV, but I'm not pressing the button to go on to the digital signal until I have to!

I don't know, I only tend to look at 1610 (regional news) and 3910 (regional sport). Sorry!

STV Central has started. Black Hill (serving Glasgow) is the last one to go over on the 8th of June, being completed on the 26th June. We'll be the last in Scotland to go over.

The changeover here in south Shropshire is due to complete tomorrow. It's a relay transmitter so we're only going to get the BBC channels and a handful of others. Bit disappointing really after being promised 40 channels.

That's a shame. We lost Film4 but I retuned and got it back. Everything stayed and we got a few new ones, only they are practically all shopping channels!

I find +1 channels to be very useful, in fact I wish more channels had +1!

I quite like +1. Can be quite useful if you see something finishing on ITV that looks interesting. Flick over to ITV+1 and watch the rerun.

+1 channels are fine when there's no real limit to the number of channels you can have, but PVRs are as cheap as chips these days so a bit of planning should mean you can record something in advance and not need to wait until it's on again.

For Freeview, I'd rather more channels than +1 channels.

Well, we still use a classic VHS recorder (and were taping stuff right up to the end of analogue). Now, I'm lumbered with loads of tapes that take up space, and I daren't watch for fear of burning them out. I'm hoping to get a gadget to allow me to transfer the tapes to my computer, then burn them onto DVDs, meaning that we can throw it away. However, I still want to try plugging a set-top box into the back of it. I might end up still being able to use the thing.

You should get BBC , ITV and channel 4 and 5 from the Freeview relay .

The main Wrekin transmitter will provide all the freeview channels - maybe you should try and aerial change (?) and point towards Wrekin.

Good thing about York is I can get BBC Look North from Leeds and BBC Look North from Newcastle. So when Yorkshire switches over, I still have a bit of time to watch Newcastle.

Yes, we did that about 9 years back when we got our first set top box (this was just after ITV digital had gone down the pan and we got one on a special offer, but we had to retune the video recorder to get the digital signal as a 6th channel, and if we recorded a digital programme on the video, we had to watch TV on analogue. Then we bought an iDTV which meeant that we were back to just the five recordable channels on the video.

Have found digital a godsend really as the analogue signal (from Crystal Palace) was rubbish when the trees were in leaf) although it wasnt until about 2007 that we got the full range of digital channels. Since the Sandy Heath switchover and their signal being boosted, things have got even better as we now have the option of Look East/Anglia News on channel 800+, despite the fact that the aerial is pointing in the wrong direction. What is odd though is that on ITV1 +1 they broadcast Meridian News rather than Anglia News. Is this something that comes out of Sandy Heath, or am I getting a second ITV1 +1 signal from some far off transmitter?

We should still get Anglia, but since I always listen to PM these days, I haven't the faintest idea. The Radio Times just says "Regional News" (very helpful :roll: ). We definitely still have Look East. I know what you mean about the signal as well, although with ours it's worse during the summer. My theory is that it has something to do with thermal expansion of the mast, giving nearer to line-of-sight. We happen to be in a bit of a valley, so it's a choice between having a mast 400 ft long or moving to get line-of-sight. No cable in Graveley either, and no satellite dishes allowed on listed buildings. Some frequencies are OK, but we could never get Channel 5.

Oh yes, Radio 4 Long Wave lost the main signal earlier, but we could still hear it from some other transmitter.

Hertford and Ware never had Channel 5 on analogue either, but I didn't realise that the problem of lack of reception was over such a wide area.

For some reason ITV has less version of it's +1 channels than the standard ones. That does indeed mean we get ITV Meridian, which means getting news and weather for Kent! Somewhat silly. Why not at least show ITV+1 London?

I'm happy so long as I've got BBC1-4 (very little I like on BBC3 but what I do is essential!), Channel 4 and Radios 4, 4X, 5 and 6. And Dave for when there's nothing else on.
