Difficulty loading the forum on Android

Has anybody else had difficulty loading the forum on android ? The forum pages seem not to be loading.

I''ve tried clearing my cache and rebooting and nothing seems to work.

I've not noticed a problem on any other websites, and all the forums avatars seem to have dissappeared of late, so I wonder if its a technical issue.

Android is an operating system.

If you are having issues accessing a website, one of the first things to try is a different web browser, e.g. Firefox: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.firefox&hl=en or Opera https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.opera.browser

Chrome - it came with the phone.

My last phone was a windows phone and whilst the battery was abysmal, the browser seemed to work fine.

The short answer is no....
There is a way to bypass the Google play store, but it's quite technical and long winded.

If you don't create a Google account I think you won't be able to use the calendar, contacts, or download any apps.

An alternative to using Google's store is to use an alternative store, such as F-Droid. There is an installation guide here, if you're interested.

Note that F-Droid only offers free (as in open-source) software, so the number of programs is a lot smaller than on Google's store. But it does include a number of alternative browsers, including a privacy-oriented version of Firefox (Klar), Fennec (a derivative of Firefox), and a number of others.

It was one of the few that was reasonably cheap. My previous phone was a windows phone, and apart from the battery (which was abysmal) I was pretty happy with its performance. I would have bought the same make, but it didn't appear to be available anywhere.

They thought my phone didn't support something called "hardware acceleration", although I'm not convinced, given that it seemed to work with it when I first bought it. Tried putting back to factory settings and nothing happened. I got lots of platitudes about how I should spend more, just to get a phone that works, even though I've already wasted £69 on the thing.

If loading firefox or something doesn't work, I might have to give up browsing the forum on the move. I'm certainly not in any hurry to spend my money on another "smart" phone which might not even be able to load up a simple website after a few months.

Seems odd that it only affects this website.

Is it full fat android or the slimmed down 'go' version of Android you're running?
It may be an incompatibility with the 'go' version of Chrome with this website?

It could also be a bad connection speed, especially when you're out and about

That's the thing. I'm in all manor of places, however when I first bought the phone it was ok, then it got progressively worse until this week where the forum never loads properly.

No, it's stopped loading the forum everywhere. Some websites, such as the BBC and Tracksy still work ok though.
