I know that different criminal offence attract different penalties. But I sometime find some offence should be treated more harshly got low penalties and some offence that is not so serious is treated more harshly.
This is a table from the parliament website.
Are recordable offence and like you can get a maximum fine of 5000 pounds
But some offence like
(I think the matter can be prosecuted under some laws regaring endange someone on the railway and potentially got seven years.)
Something like using a mobile on the move can get 2000 pounds and 6pts
But catching fish without a license can got maximum 2500 pounds
One of the most discussed one- RoRa S.5 is recordable with 1000 pounds and 3 months inside.
If someone is dodging TV license it is basically also dishonest but the penalties are not the the rail one, and even no to the penalties of Fraud.
I agree youngsters should not be drinking but the penalties for proxy buying is so harsh. In fact the offence in Incensing act are so harsh compared to other laws. Selling a knife to someone under 18 can got so serious consequences for the seller but under 18 can get knives from other places too but this is a different matter.:roll:
