Downpatrick and County Down Railway last week took delivery of ex CIE loco, Metropolitan Vickers C231. The loco is owned by the Irish Traction Group and although not currently in working order, it underwent a great deal of work at RMS Locotec in 2000. ITG volunteers will be working on completing this overhaul and ensuring C231 will join the ITG's 4 operational locomotives already at the railway.
This year is also the 25th anniversary of the Irish Traction Group and it is planned to hold a diesel gala later this year to celebrate the event. This is provisionally down for a date in October and will be held at DCDR. Further details will be posted when confirmed.
